State Senator Andrew S. Chesney | Illinois General Assembly
State Senator Andrew Chesney of Freeport traveled to Washington, D.C., to join other conservative Illinois lawmakers at the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. The committee session involved questioning Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and two other governors about the effects of Sanctuary State policies.
Senator Chesney expressed his views during the session, stating, “Governor Pritzker is a master at twisting words, deflecting facts, and rewriting narratives to suit his own political purposes.” He emphasized his intention to "set the record straight" for families affected by what he described as Pritzker’s "woke agenda and failed sanctuary state policies."
Alongside Governor Pritzker on the panel were Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and New York Governor Kathy Hochul. Chesney criticized Pritzker's approach, saying, “Governor Pritzker, in his efforts to gain national headlines, has turned Illinois into a safe haven for illegal immigrant criminals who are terrorizing our communities.” He further accused Pritzker of prioritizing attention from "liberal elites" over protecting Illinois families and claimed that the state's sanctuary policies have financially burdened taxpayers.
