On July 3, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Senate-amended version of President Donald Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill." In response to this development, Illinois State Senator Andrew Chesney (R-Freeport) shared his views on the legislation's impact.

Senator Chesney stated, "Today’s passage of the Big Beautiful Bill in the U.S. House marks a major victory for hardworking Americans and the values that built this nation." He emphasized that the bill provides relief by eliminating federal taxes on tips, reducing taxes for the middle class, and removing taxes on Social Security for most seniors. The senator highlighted its potential to boost small business growth by cutting red tape.

Additionally, Senator Chesney noted the bill's focus on national safety improvements through significant investments in border security and immigration enforcement. "It also takes serious steps to enhance our nation’s safety through major investments in border security and immigration enforcement and by giving law enforcement the tools they need to secure our border and restore law and order," he said.

Reflecting on its significance for Illinois residents, Chesney remarked, "For the people of Illinois, this couldn’t come at a better time." He contrasted Republican efforts with Democratic policies in Springfield that he claims increase taxes and drive away jobs. He praised Republicans' commitment to fiscal responsibility and individual freedom: "This bill represents a major course correction."

Chesney concluded with support for House Republicans aligning with President Trump: "I applaud U.S. House Republicans for standing strong with President Trump."
