Freeport Athletics highlights student achievements and team results in recent sports updates

Freeport Athletics, the official account for Freeport High School sports, shared updates on student athletic achievements and team results this week. The posts highlighted individual and team performances across volleyball, tennis, and soccer.

On September 23, Freeport Athletics recognized a standout volleyball player: " Athlete of the Week (Sept 14–20) Congrats to Mackenzee Matz (Sophomore, Girls Volleyball)! Mackenzee had a strong week at the net and on defense, finishing with: 12 Kills 4 Blocks 2 Aces 7 Digs .180 Hitting Efficiency | .240 Kill %".

Later that day, the account reported on the girls varsity tennis team's match outcome: "Tennis Girls Varsity loses to Hononegah with a final score of 0 - 5." (September 24).

In another update posted minutes later, Freeport Athletics shared the result of a boys junior varsity soccer game: "Soccer Boys Junior Varsity ties with Auburn with a final score of 3 - 3." (September 24).

Freeport High School serves students in grades nine through twelve in Freeport and Stephenson County. According to state data from the 2019-2020 school year, it enrolled approximately 1,084 students, with grade ten having the highest concentration at 24.2 percent. The school's demographic composition was reported as about half white students (50.5 percent), with black students making up just over one-fourth (24.2 percent), Hispanic students at 11.4 percent, and Asian students at just over one percent.
