Freeport Athletics reports volleyball and tennis losses for girls' teams on September 24

Freeport Athletics reported on September 24, 2025, that several of its girls’ sports teams faced defeats in recent competitions, according to posts on its official Twitter account.

On September 24, Freeport Athletics announced, "Volleyball Girls Freshmen loses to Hononegah with a final score of 11-25, 11-25." The update was posted at 01:42 UTC. Shortly after, another result was shared: "Volleyball Girls Junior Varsity loses to Hononegah with a final score of 24-26, 6-25." This post appeared at 01:43 UTC the same day.

Later that evening, the school's tennis team also reported a loss. At 23:18 UTC on September 24, Freeport Athletics tweeted, "Tennis Girls Varsity loses to Harlem with a final score of 0 - 5."

Freeport High School serves students in grades nine through twelve and had an enrollment of 1,084 during the 2019-2020 academic year. The school is located in Freeport within Stephenson County. According to the Illinois Report Card, grade ten had the highest concentration of students at 24.2 percent out of the total enrollment (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). Demographically, the student body consists of approximately half white students (50.5 percent), followed by black (24.2 percent), Hispanic (11.4 percent), and Asian (1.1 percent) populations as reported for the same school year.

The athletic results reflect ongoing participation across various sports by Freeport High School’s student body.
