State Senator Li Arellano Jr. (R-Dixon) has announced that state funding will be directed toward several major infrastructure projects in the 37th Legislative District. The grants, awarded by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), will support improvements such as road resurfacing, corridor upgrades, and pedestrian and bicycle path enhancements across multiple communities.

"Projects like these are crucial to our communities," Senator Arellano said. "By investing in local infrastructure, whether it’s sidewalks, bikeways, or streets, we’re improving both safety and usability. These improvements will not only make daily life easier but also help fuel local development and long-term growth."

Among the projects receiving funding is Project ROCK in Dixon. IDOT is providing more than $4.6 million for a new pedestrian bridge over the Rock River and over two miles of recreational paths to expand mobility options for residents and visitors.

Sterling will see nearly $5 million invested in improvements on West LeFevre Road, an important thoroughfare that connects high schools, medical facilities, parks, and sports complexes.

The City of Ashton is set to receive $1.5 million for its 2026 road program.

"These local cities and governments deserve praise for putting together strong projects, which were absolutely critical," Senator Arellano said. He expressed gratitude to IDOT for its role in making these initiatives possible. "These investments mark a strong state/local partnership committed to safer travel and greater accessibility across the 37th District."

Other funded projects include shared use paths in Chillicothe ($935,000), bridge work in Tiskilwa ($850,000), roadway strengthening efforts throughout Lee County and Union Grove Road Districts ($783,000 and $700,000 respectively), downtown streetscape upgrades in Albany ($430,000) and Lyndon ($370,000), as well as additional street reconstruction efforts in Morrison ($297,800) among others.

Senator Arellano was elected to represent the 37th Senate District of Illinois in 2025 as a Republican following Win Stoller’s term.
