Illinois State Representative Brad Fritts has provided an update on recent activities in the 74th District and legislative developments in Springfield. Lawmakers are returning for the final week of the veto session, following an earlier session that Fritts described as unproductive.

“Despite the urgent need for property tax reform, public safety reform, energy policy reform, and more, Illinois Democrats didn’t call one substantive bill for a vote. Illinois families can’t wait any longer, we must provide substantial relief now!” Fritts said. He added that he hopes to see positive changes emerge from Springfield during this week’s proceedings.

Fritts’ office recently organized a Utility Bill Clinic at the Sterling Public Library with support from the Citizens Utility Board (CUB) to help residents address rising utility costs. The clinic offered information on ways to reduce bills.

A Winter Clothing Drive is also underway in partnership with Regional Office of Education #47. Starting November 1, donations can be made through an Amazon wishlist or dropped off at one of 18 designated locations.

Fritts’ team attended several community events, including a town hall hosted by OSF Saint Katharine Medical Center (formerly KSB Hospital), which discussed ongoing projects and future plans following a change in ownership. Other events included ribbon-cutting ceremonies for Dog Trot Pottery and HB Wilkinson Title Company’s new location in Dixon.

Rock River Valley Self Help Enterprises held its annual Client Awards Banquet to honor volunteers and community partners who support programs for people with disabilities. Fritts’ office also attended the groundbreaking ceremony for Hill Street Neighborhood in Mt. Morris, a new community designed for individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities.

In recognition of National Manufacturing Month, the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association hosted its “Makers on the Move” tour. Stops included P&P Industries in Sterling and BorgWarner in Dixon; both companies were highlighted for their roles in local manufacturing. The Suter Company, located just outside the district in Sycamore, was also recognized during the tour as it celebrated its 100th anniversary.

Constituents can access free museum passes through Fritts’ office by submitting a reservation request online. A community calendar is available on his website listing upcoming local events; certain restrictions apply due to state ethics laws.

Fritts has represented Illinois' 74th House District since his election in 2023 as a Republican, succeeding Dan Swanson.
