Illinois House Minority Leader Tony McCombie voiced her opposition to a proposed $1.9 billion tax increase intended to support public transit in the state. The plan, introduced by House Democrats under SB2111, includes several tax hikes.

“It’s the same old tax-and-spend playbook from Illinois Democrats, and it’s about to make life a lot more expensive for families across our state,” said Leader McCombie.

McCombie emphasized that she and fellow House Republicans will not support additional taxes without what they describe as meaningful reform. She called for greater accountability, efficiency, and reforms to the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) before considering any new financial burden on Illinois families.

McCombie was elected as a Republican to the Illinois State House in 2023 and represents the 89th District. She succeeded Andrew Chesney in this role.
