Illinois House Minority Leader Tony McCombie took part in a debate over a public transit bailout bill during the final day of the legislative veto session. The legislation was introduced with little notice and faced significant opposition, particularly due to concerns about increased taxes.
McCombie expressed criticism regarding both the timing and content of the bill. "The bill faced heavy opposition as it was forced through at the last minute and riddled with tax hikes," McCombie said.
McCombie, a Republican, began representing Illinois's 89th House District in 2023 after succeeding Andrew Chesney.
