The price of local government: City of Savanna

Budget 13

The City of Savanna budget was $7.33 million for its 2015 fiscal year, or $5,310.07 per household.

That's an increase of 30.2 percent from 2014, when the city spent $5.63 million, or $4,076.84 per household.

Savanna has 1,381 households and a population of 3,062.

Since 2001, the City of Savanna budget has grown by 74.8 percent, from $4.20 million. The city population has fallen 13.6 percent over the same period, from 3,542.

Salaries accounted for 13 percent of city spending in 2015. Savanna property taxpayers paid $956,255.10 for 22 full-time employees and five part-time employees.

In 2001, the city had 24 full-time employees and six part-time employees, and spent $1.13 million.
