Schmaling Memorial Public Library District Board met May 16.
Here is the minutes provided by the Board:
Teresa called the meeting to order.
Members present were Nancy Countryman, Jodie Dornbush, Sandy Hamilton, Barb Knight and Teresa Ray. Britni Hartman and Kathy Quick were also present. Paula Ensinger was absent.
Teresa appointed Kathy Quick to fill the vacant trustee position. Teresa then administered the Oath of Office for Kathy.
Nancy and Sandy also completed the Oath of Office for their new term of office. Paula will need to do that at our June meeting.
A motion was made by Nancy to approve the minutes of the April 18, 2017 meeting. All ayes were heard, and the minutes were approved.
Barb made a motion to pay the bills. The motion carried with a 5-0 roll call vote.
Librarian’s Report
Britni updated the board on the window project, summer reading program and grants.
Building And Grounds Committee
1. Jodie will help on this committee along with Paula.
2. Britni reported that we now have the Smart Meter from ComEd.
3. We will have a new Frontier rate next month. Britni asked for an e-mail explanation of the new rate structure.
Finance Committee
1. Nancy and Barb will remain on this committee.
2. A notice was received from Dana Nelson, Whiteside County Clerk, letting us know that we exceeded the 105% without a special hearing. Because of that, she had to reduce our corporate amount by $639.
3. The $500 requested from the David and Lida Flikkema Endowment has been received.
4. Nancy distributed first quarter statements from the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend on our endowments.
5. Nancy received a notice from Dana Nelson about the canvas of votes. They are now complete and on file.
Library Committee
Kathy Quick will serve on this committee with Sandy Hamilton.
Miscellaneous Items
1. Nancy, Paula, Sandy and Kathy will need to complete the OMA training in the next 90 days.
2. We need a new FOIA designee. Tabled until next month.
3. Nancy made a motion to change the second page of the bylaws to indicate that we have moved our meetings to the Third Tuesday of the month. Motion carried.
Our next meeting is on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 5 p.m.
Nancy made a motion to adjourn. All ayes were heard; motion passed.
