Analysis: Sterling pays $6.58 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Sterling Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 86.8 percent of the $794,514 the Sterling Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $6.58 for every $1 from pension members, according to a NW Illinois News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Sterling contributed $689,721 to the fund, which saw a $82,811 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $104,793, or 13.2 percent, in 2016.
