Savanna FD responds to 32 fires in 2017

Savanna Fire Department responded to 37 calls in 2017 - 23.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Savanna included 32 fires - 15 structure fires, two vehicle fires and 15 other fires.

In all, the department saw $452,500 in fire loss - or about $14,141 per fire.

The department also received five false calls.

The Savanna Fire Department had an annual budget of $115,743 in 2017.

The Savanna Firefighters Pension Fund, which has two active employees and four retired or inactive employees, was $100,646 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $6,290 for every fire in 2016.
