Galena Fire Protection District responded to 96 calls in 2017 - 15.7 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Galena included 36 fires - 16 structure fires, eight vehicle fires and 12 other fires.

In all, the department saw $1,462,750 in fire loss - or about $40,632 per fire.

The department also received 60 false calls, including one malicious call and 59 other false calls.

The Galena Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $25,981 in 2017.
