Dixon City FD responds to 65 fires in 2017

Dixon City Fire Department responded to 168 calls in 2017 - 21.7 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Dixon City included 65 fires - 27 structure fires, 11 vehicle fires and 27 other fires. The fire department also responded to three calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $172,782 in fire loss - or about $2,658 per fire.

The department also received 100 false calls, including two malicious calls and 98 other false calls.

The calls resulted in two civilian fire-related injuries.
