Leaf River FPD responds to 13 fires in 2017

Leaf River Fire Protection District responded to 14 calls in 2017 - 22.2 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Leaf River included 13 fires - eight structure fires, one vehicle fire and four other fires.

In all, the department saw $308,000 in fire loss - or about $23,692 per fire.

The department also received one false call.

The calls resulted in three civilian fire-related injuries and one civilian fire-related death. Additionally, one fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.

The Leaf River Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $190,304 in 2017.
