According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 3,436 students during the year. That equates to 85.9 percent of the 4,000 students enrolled.
Of the 2,471 in-school suspensions, 1,648 were given to boys and 823 were given to girls, including 1,403 elementary or middle schoolers and 1,068 high schoolers.
The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 2,465 incidents. There were four incidents of a dangerous weapon, other than a firearm. For 2,290 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
Of the 965 out-of-school suspensions, 670 were given to boys and 295 were given to girls, including 587 elementary or middle schoolers and 378 high schoolers.
The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 924 incidents. There were 24 incidents of drugs. For 429 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
