Creston Community Consolidated School District 161 students suspended 20 times in a single school year

Creston Community Consolidated School District 161 reported 20 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 20 students during the year. That equates to 21.1 percent of the 95 students enrolled.

Of the 10 in-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 10 incidents. For nine incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 10 out-of-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes six incidents. There were three incidents of unspecified reasons. For five incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
