Sterling Fire Department issued the following announcement on Sept. 3.
The City of Sterling, IL Board of Fire and Police Commissioners will be accepting applications for FIREFIGHTER for the Sterling Fire Department. Applications will be available in the Police Administration office - 212 Third Avenue, Sterling Fire Department – 110 W. 5th Street, Sterling, IL and on the city website www.sterling-il.gov. All applications must be returned no later than 4:00 pm on Monday, September 24, 2018 to the Police Administration office.
General Requirements: Must be 21 years of age and not have reached your 35th birthday, US citizen, high school diploma or equivalent, valid driver’s license, and good health and vision. Exam required.
Residency requirements - Within one year of being hired, Firefighters must live 20 min from the Main Station, 110 West 5th Street, Sterling.
A mandatory orientation will be held for applicants on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Sterling Coliseum, 212 Third Avenue, Sterling, IL. Applicants should bring valid driver’s license. More information will be provided at orientation.
Testing will be on Saturday, September 29, 2018.
