Andrew Chesney is proud to know that former 89th District State Rep. Jim Sacia sees some of himself in the current Republican candidate.

Endorsing Chesney’s run against Democrat Nick Hyde in the 89th District, Sacia praised the GOP candidate, in a press release,  stating “when I served in the Illinois House I made it a priority to know the views of my constituents and to represent those views on the floor of the Illinois House. Andrew Chesney has my support and endorsement because he too shares my view of what a representative should be.”

Those words and Sacia’s endorsement take on great meaning for Chesney, given Sacia’s high standing in the district, he said.

“It’s very important and humbling to me,” Chesney told the NW Illinois News. “He did a great job as the representative of the district and serves as a model for me. I think we want similar things for the region going forward.”

For Chesney, at the top of the list are reducing taxes and deregulation.

“Those issues are huge and I hear about them everyday from voters who want to see this district and state get back on track,” he said. “That’s the motivation I will take with me to Springfield.”

Chesney said being able to count on Sacia’s support means taking one huge step closer to his ultimate goals.

“His endorsement runs deep, as he’s still profoundly admired and respected across these parts,” Chesney added. “I hope to be able to emulate the positive impact he had on this community.”

A native of Illinois and alderman at large in the city of Freeport, Chesney said he enters the last four weeks of the campaign feeling good about his chances.

“I think we’re in good shape and that our message is really resonating,” he said. “For a while now, we’ve been getting great feedback from the voters of this area.”

The 89th House District includes portions of Jo Daviess, Stephenson, Winnebago, Carroll, Ogle and Whiteside counties.
