City of Lanark City Council met September 18.

Lanark City Council met in regular session at the Lanark City Hall at 7:30 pm. Roll Call taken by Donna Burgh, City Clerk, showed Aldermen present were Lance Leverton, Haley Grim, Brad Knutti, and Weston Burkholder. Aldermen Macomber and VanMatre were absent. Mayor Ken Viglietta was present and presiding.
Others present were: Jason Alvarado, Rosemary Flikkema, Scott Heeren and Jen Sturtevant, Lonnie Prowant, Jim Wyeth and Mark Hansen, Officer Groharing and Chief Magill.
Approval of Consent Agenda - Motion was made by Alderman Burkholder and seconded by Alderman Knutti to accept the minutes of the September 4, 2018 meeting as presented. Motion carried.
School Resource Officer Presentation – A presentation was made by Supt. Mark Hansen for the possibility of purchasing the services of an SRO (School Resource Officer). His presentation included: Situations meriting a police presence, Purchased service vs. Districtemployed SRO, Possible distribution of costs, and Expectations of Eastland Schools.
Standing Committees - Rosemary Flikkema, president of the Transformers Committee, reported the Grand Opening of “The Kings of Connections, LLC – Computer and Cellphone Repair. She also reported of the Committee making plans for this year’s Jingle Fest, Santa, and Shop Small Saturday.
Executive Session – Motion was made by Alderman Leverton and seconded by Alderman Grim to convene in Executive Session at 8:12 pm in order to discuss Real Estate. Motion carried.
Regular Session – A motion was made by Alderman Leverton and seconded by Alderman Burkholder to reconvene into regular session at 8:45 pm. Motion carried.
A monthly report by Jason Alvarado, Manager of Maintenance was distributed as was a Profit & Loss Budget vs. Actual by the Treasurer.
Motion – A motion was made by Alderman Burkholder and seconded by Alderman Knutti to adjourn at 9:05 pm. Motion carried.
