This year, the Illinois State Police celebrated a significant milestone with the graduation of its largest cadet class in 25 years. State Police Director Brendan F. Kelly praised the achievement and acknowledged the success of this year's graduates.
For those interested in joining, the Illinois State Police offers opportunities for both new applicants and experienced officers. Qualified individuals can apply for a traditional 29-week cadet training program. Those already certified as police officers with prior experience may opt for an accelerated 12-week entry program. Following academy training, all future ISP troopers undergo a final 14-week field training program to gain practical experience. The recent summer class of 95 cadets completed their training and were sworn in as State Police troopers.
Illinois House Minority Leader Tony McCombie extended her congratulations to the graduating class while emphasizing ongoing legislative efforts to enhance public safety: "House Republicans believe safe communities start with strong support for law enforcement," said McCombie. "The graduation of the largest Illinois State Police cadet class in 25 years is a need and an investment in those who protect and serve. We’ll keep fighting for the resources and respect law enforcement need—because public safety isn’t optional, it’s foundational."
