City of Lanark City Council met October 2.
Here is the minutes as provided by the council:
Lanark City Council met in regular session at the Lanark City Hall at 7:31 pm. Roll Call taken by Donalee Yenney, Office Assistant, showed Aldermen present were Lance Leverton, Haley Grim, Brad Knutti, Mark Macomber and Jay VanMatre. Weston Burkholder arrived at 7:34 pm. Mayor Ken Viglietta was present and presiding.
Others present were: Lee Reese, Lonnie Prowant, Jim Wyeth, Scott Heeren and John Nelson.
Motion - Motion was made by Alderman Lance Leverton and seconded by Alderman Knutti to appoint Donalee as clerk pro tem for purpose of recording tonight’s meeting. Motion carried.
Motion - was made by Alderman Haley Grim and seconded by Alderman VanMatre to appoint Kim Hunter as City Clerk. Motion carried. Kim Hunter was then sworn into office by Ed Mitchell.
Approval of Consent Agenda - Motion was made by Alderman Lance Leverton and seconded by Brad Knutti to accept the minutes of the September 18, 2018 meeting as presented. Motion carried.
Trick or Treat Time – Motion was made by Alderman Brad Knutti and seconded by Grim to set the trick or treat time from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on October 31, 2018. Motion carried.
Ordinance Levying the Annual Taxes – Motion was made by Alderman Lance Leverton and seconded by VanMatre to approve Ordinance #958. Motion carried.
Standing Committees – Lance Leverton, Chair of Purchasing Finance Committee would like to invite the Com Ed rep. regarding new street lights.
Mark Macomber, chair of the Personnel committee, thanked the tree removal crew for the great job they did.
Executive Session – Motion was made by Alderman Knutti and seconded by Alderman Grim to convene in Executive Session at 7:51 pm in order to discuss sale of Real Estate. Motion carried.
Regular Session – A motion was made by Alderman Burkholder and seconded by Alderman Macomber to reconvene into regular session at 8:45 pm. Motion carried.
Motion – A motion was made by Alderman Knutti and seconded by Alderman VanMatre to accept the bid for the downtown lots sale to Lee Reese for the amount of $7,855. Motion defeated lack of 3/4 vote. At this point the lots are unsold until the council takes future action.
Reports-Mayor Viglietta reported the sidewalks have been completed for this year. Alderman VanMatre has received complaints of water bill payments not getting here on time. Alderman
Burkholder reported on the meeting with Eastland Schools and the Village of Shannon regarding the SRO Officer. He distributed information regarding costs of the SRO. This item will be up for a vote at the next council meeting. Mayor Viglietta reported the final paperwork from the DOT for S. West Lanark Street with work to begin on the 2nd week of October. He also reported Donna Burgh’s resignation from City Clerk.
Motion – A motion was made by Alderman Knutti and seconded by Alderman Burkholder to adjourn at 9:05 pm. Motion carried.
