CGH Medical Center issued the following announcement on Nov. 24.
Colds and the flu have a lot in common. They're both respiratory viruses. They both occur more frequently in the fall and winter. And they share many of the same symptoms. All of this can make it difficult to determine which virus might be causing your suffering.

Keep in mind that both colds and the flu are caused by viruses, so antibiotics aren't helpful for treating either one. But in most cases, over-the-counter medicines can provide relief. (Remember not to give aspirin to a child. It can cause a serious condition called Reye's syndrome.)
