City of Dixon issued the following announcement on Dec. 6.
With the turn in weather, construction season for the water division has slowed down some, but continues on. To date, the division has installed roughly 1600' of the 2900' of new water main due to be installed for the Depot Avenue Watermain project. Several new connections have been made between the new water main and existing mains at key points in the City's distribution system. Also, there have been 15 new distribution valves added as well as 3 new fire hydrants.
Next week the boring portion of the project will begin. The City has hired Sega Ag Works to bore and case a new 12" water main under both spurs of the railroad along Depot Avenue. This part of the project should take roughly 2-3 weeks.
The division will continue work along Depot Avenue as long as weather conditions permit. Construction will then pick up again in early spring and will be finished up just ahead of the summer construction season when Depot Avenue is slated to be repaved.
Engineering for this project was completed by Fehr Graham.
