City of Dixon Planning Commission met Nov. 15.

The Dixon Plan Commission meeting was called to order by Chairperson Whaley on November 15, 2018 at 6:05 pm in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 121 W Second Street.
Roll call - Commissioners present: Aurand, Corken, Gates, Scriven, Seagren, Shaw, Yount and Wiggins, Chairperson Whaley. Commissioners absent: Lawton.
Chairperson Whaley asked for changes or corrections to the minutes that were presented from the June 28, 2018 meeting. After hearing none, Commissioner Shaw motioned that the minutes be accepted as presented. Commissioner Scriven seconded the motion. Chairperson Whaley called for a vote, Voting Yea: Aurand, Corken, Gates, Scriven, Seagren, Shaw, Yount and Wiggins. Voting Nay: None. Motion carried.
PETITION FOR SPECIAL USE
1640 S. Galena Avenue
Petitioner: Heartland Beef Inc. Arby’s Restaurant
Chairperson Whaley presented the information contained in the petition. A motion was made by Commissioner Seagren seconded by Commissioner Corken to approve the petition for special use to construct a fast food restaurant on property located at 1640 S. Galena Avenue, Dixon, IL, with Property Identification Number of 18-08-09-176-003, presently zoned B-2 General Business District. Petitioner: Heartland Beef Inc. Arby’s Restaurant. Mike Todd of Arby’s addressed the Commission, sharing background on the business. Voting Yea: Aurand, Corken, Gates, Scriven, Seagren, Shaw, Yount, and Wiggins. Voting Nay: None. Motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS
Two new Commissioners, Seth Wiggins and Greg Gates were introduced and welcomed to the Commission.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Commissioner Corken addressed the Commission inquiring if it would be beneficial for the City Attorney to attend a meeting and give an overview on what was expected of the Commission. Mayor Arellano addressed the Commission with an explanation of the importance of the Commission and their job to research petitions and forward information to the Council with their findings.
Building Official Shiaras added that there is a Plan Commission meeting scheduled for December 27, 2018 for review of a Solar Ordinance.
As there was no further business to discuss, Chairperson Whaley called for a motion to adjourn. A motion was made by Member Yount and seconded by Member Aurand to adjourn the meeting. Chairperson Whaley declared the meeting adjourned at 6:16 pm.
