American Legion issued the following announcement on Feb. 7.
The American Legion Department of New York recently scored a media coup: an exclusive interview between department commander Gary Schacher and Theodore Roosevelt IV – grandson of American Legion founder Theodore Roosevelt Jr., chairman of the Legion’s national centennial honorary committee, and a Legionnaire himself.
According to the department, the interview, conducted in December in New York City, “touches on a wide range of topics including why the Legion was established, its advocacy efforts, some of its greatest accomplishments and what the Legion is trying to do for the newest generation of veterans – and some stories about the Roosevelts!”
The interview debuted at the department Mid-Winter Conference in late January, and can be viewed on the department’s YouTube channel. Learn more about the interview, and Schacher’s reflections on it, on the department's website.
