Dinner

Byron Forest Preserve District issued the following announcement on April 24.

The Byron Forest Preserve District recently held their Annual Volunteer and Staff Recognition Dinner on April 18, 2019, at the PrairieView Golf Pavilion. The District employs approximately 65 people from Byron and the surrounding area during their peak summer season. The District has four departments: Administration, Education, Restoration/Parks Maintenance, and Golf Operations. These departments maintain and operate the Jarrett Prairie Center Natural History Museum and Banquet Facility, Weiskopf Observatory, Keller Education Center, Heritage Farm Museum, PrairieView Golf Club, Prairie Grass Pub, and several Nature Preserves with trails and other amenities. The staff also hosts many family programs and special events such as preschool, summer camp, homeschool classes, Halloween on the Prairie, Holiday Gift Sale, golf lessons, concerts, golf tournaments, golf playdays, and so much more! The District recognized 47 volunteers who logged over 4,600 hours of service to the District. Volunteers work in various departments completing tasks from organizing preschool book order forms to attending to golf carts to pulling weeds to building birdhouses. There is always work to be done and the District is very fortunate to have such wonderful volunteers ready and willing to do it!
