Former state school employee Reyes Fry paid in $16K to teachers' pension fund, could collect $379K in retirement

Former state school employee Claudia Reyes Fry, who retired in September 2016, saved $15,999 toward a pension over 8 years working for public schools, Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Reyes Fry would collect as much as $378,972, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes NW Illinois News.

The projection assumes Reyes Fry received $7,965 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 2 years of retirement, Reyes Fry will have already received $16,169 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the teachers' pension fund.
