Meet

City of Amboy City Council met March 18.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor John Schamberger called the Regular meeting of the Amboy City Council to order and the council and audience stood for the Pledge of Allegiance.

ROLL CALL:

WARD 1: Brett Dewey

Jake Leffelman

WARD 2: Dennis Weidman

Bill Bontz

WARD 3: Daryl Stuckemeyer

Dave Shaw

MINUTE’S APPROVED-The minutes from the February regular city council meeting were presented. Motion to approve the minutes by Aldermen Dewey and Stuckemeyer. Carried.

TREASURER’S REPORT APPROVED- City Treasurer Nancy Neal submitted the financial report. Making a motion to approve the reports as presented was made and seconded by Aldermen Weidman and Bontz. Carried.

PAYMENT OF BILLS APPROVED- A list of outstanding bills, involving city accounts as prepared by the city clerk’s office was submitted. Making a motion to approve the bills as presented was made by Aldermen Stuckemeyer and Bontz. Carried.

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:

COMMUNITY BUILDING-No Report.

DEPOT MUSEUM-Alderman Shaw reported the Depot is discussing part time employees.

L.C.E.M.A-Alderman Dewey-April 1st is the deadline for the mitigation paperwork.

PARK-Alderman Bontz –Discussing investments for the Kidd Trust funds.

LIBRARY-Alderman Weidman reported the library board met with no new business.

COMMITTEE MEETING-Alderman Weidman reported the committee met and discussed sump pump letters, reviewed job postings and the Commercial Street culvert.

MAINT/STREET DEPT-Alderman Bontz –The maintenance department is cutting dead trees with Timber.

WATER/SEWER DEPT-Aldermen Stuckemeyer-No Report.

CONCERNS FROM THE AUDIENCE-Camden Ross came to discuss a ticket that was given due to his dog pooping on the neighbor’s lawn. He is requesting a formal meeting to get these issues resolved. David Rhine had concerns regarding the standing water in his yard and his neighbor’s backyards. The drainage needs to be looked at and also the school project needs to make sure they are also including drainage into their plans for the new addition. Tom Nauman wanted an update on an abandoned trailer that is by him and what the city plans to do. Don Clayton has inspected the trailer and will try to contact the owner.

New Business

Approve Resolution Authorizing the Hiring of Part-Time Employee Gordy Koch (Summer Mowing)-Motion to Approve Resolution made by Aldermen Weidman and Stuckemeyer. All Approved.

Approve Commercial Culvert Permit Fee $2,690.00 (Il Dept of Natural Resources) Motion to Approve Commercial Culvert Permit Fee $2,690.00 made by Aldermen Stuckemeyer and and Bontz. All Approved.

Discuss/Approve Willett & Hoffman to Take Bids-East Main Street & Division Street – Mayor Schamberger reviewed the bids for the project. Alderman Bontz was concerned that Division was more in need than East Main Street. The aldermen will have a discussion at the next finance meeting on the street projects.

Building Inspectors Report-2 Roof Permits. ATTORNEY CONCERNS-Nothing.

COUNCIL CONCERNS

Alderman Shaw-Watch for children playing. Alderman Weidman-Nothing.

Alderman Dewey-Nothing.

Alderman Leffelman-Nothing.

Alderman Bonzt-Nothing.

Alderman Stuckemeyer-Nothing.

MAYOR CONCERNS-Spring cleanup time is here. Each aldermen needs to make a list to help get yards cleaned up.

With no further business to come before the council the meeting adjourned.
