2018 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Stephenson County?

There were 80 offenders released on parole during 2018 that live in Stephenson County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by NW Illinois News.

The data shows that 73 men and seven women were released in Stephenson County. Of the parolees, one was a veteran, and the median age was 35. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man convicted of a property crime in 2017, and the oldest was a 66-year-old man convicted of a crime involving alcohol in 2018.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Michael Meissen. He was convicted of a sex crime in 2005 when he was 31 years old. He is now 45.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
