City of Prophetstown City Council met March 19.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

I. CALL TO ORDER: A special meeting of the Prophetstown City Council was held at City Hall in Prophetstown, Illinois. The meeting convened at 6:01 p.m.,

Mayor Steve Swanson, presiding.

II. ROLL CALL Dan Baker, Daryl Drennen, Greg Schmitt, Josh Hovey

CITY STAFF IN ATTENDANCE: Connie Jensen, City Clerk;
Brian Strike, Director of Public Works

III. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION:

1. Consideration and possible action: to approve purchasing the 2006 Chevrolet C4500, bucket truck for public works.

The council discussed what the truck would be used for, including the changing of lights, tree trimming, putting up banners and plants along Main Street.

Mayor Swanson stated that if the bucket truck is purchased, then the city would no longer have to borrow trucks from Prophetstown residents.

Mayor Swanson stated that should something happen to a truck they are borrowing from a resident, the city would be liable for any repairs and/or damages.

The Prophetstown Director of Public Works, Brian Strike, stated that over the last two years, the city has spent $10,000.00 on tree trimming services.

Mayor Swanson stated that with the purchase of the truck, the cost for tree trimming would be greatly reduced, as the bulk of the trimming would be done by the city.

MOTION: Approval of purchase of bucket truck for public works for $23,995.00.

MOTION MOVED BY SCHMITT, SECONDED BY BAKER.

COUNCIL CONCURRED. MOTION CARRIED.

MOTION: To adjourn the 3/19/19 Prophetstown Special City Council Meeting at 6:17 p.m.

MOTION MOVED BY DRENNEN, SECONDED BY HOVEY.

COUNCIL CONCURRED. MOTION CARRIED.
