City of Sterling City Council met May 30.
Here is the minutes as provided by the council:
Mayor Charles L. “Skip” Lee called a special meeting of the Sterling City Council to order at 6:30 pm on Thursday, May 30, 2019. Roll call. Present: Aldermen Retha Elston, Joe Martin, John Stauter, Christine Wilen, and Jim Wise. Absent: Mackenzie Hopping.
Also present were City Attorney Tim Zollinger, City Manager Scott Shumard, Police Deputy Chief Alex Chavira, and City Clerk Marie Rombouts.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
There were no communications from Visitors.
Alderman Elston made a motion to accept the low bid from Martin & Company in the amount of $942,021.14 for the roundabout at Lynn Boulevard and West LeFevre; seconded by Alderman Wise. Manager Shumard reported McCombie and Anderson were unable to help with IDOT’s grant. IDOT wants to see a project with public involvement but there is a stage that goes too far and Sterling may have done that with the engineering and bids.
Manager Shumard reported the Wastewater Treatment Plant is dealing with a deluge of water. We are treating 7.9 million gallons of water per day, instead of the normal 2.6 million gallons.
Mayor Lee thanked the American Legion for a great Memorial Day Celebration.
Meeting adjourned at 6:47 pm.
