Jo Daviess County Board of Health met July 8.
Here is the minutes provided by the board:
1. Call to Order: Brandon Behlke, Board of Health President, called the Meeting to order at 7:15 p.m.
2. Roll Call:
Members Present: Elizabeth Blair, Brandon Behlke, Nikki Chamberlain Pham, and Peg Dittmar. Members not present: Hesper Nowatzki and Merri Berlage. A quorum was not established.
Staff Present: Sandra Schleicher and Marcia Christ
3. Citizens’ Comments: none
4. Unfinished Business:
a) Financial reports - May 2019 financial reports for Public Health Fund 003, Public Health Capital Investment Fund 055, and Animal Control Fund 020 were presented to board members for review. Members then moved to New Business for discussion of FY 2020 budgets along with any related services and estimated expenses.
5. New Business
a) Discussion and possible action regarding FY2020 Public Health and Animal Control Budgets.
Sandra Schleicher expressed that she was looking for guidance from board members regarding the Health Department and the Galena and Elizabeth properties in order to proceed with the budget process and determine estimated expenses for FY2020.
There was discussion held regarding future plans and moving forward with health department services; the location of services offered, staffing, building repairs, and expenses.
There was discussion of getting additional Board of Health members and a permanent full-time Administrator on board in order to offer guidance in the vision of the health department and to be involved in the decision making.
Brandon Behlke recommended that an additional Board of Health meeting would need to be scheduled in order to allow time for further discussion and planning.
