City of Galena Historic Preservation Commission met July 18.

CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Craig Brown called the meeting of the Galena Historic Preservation
Commission to order at 6:30 PM on Thursday, July 18, 2019.
ROLL CALL & DECLARATION OF QUORUM
Upon roll call, the following members were present:

A quorum was declared.
Public Comments: None.

NEW BUSINESS
19HPC-059: 603 SOUTH BENCH STREET.
Discussion and possible action on a request by Adam Johnson applicant, and Kate & Doug Freeman owners, to raise the roof on the West side of the 3rd floor and provide a deck and stairs. Replace (4) existing windows on the 1st floor in the West addition with new wood windows to match existing windows with 6 over 6 divided lights. Replace middle window in sunroom with a French door and provide solar panels on the roof of the West addition.
Adam Johnson stated:
• That he is requesting to raise the roof on the third floor for the managers apartment.
• There will be stairs coming down along side of the house.
• The owner would like to replace the windows with six over six to match the rest of the house.
• The new roof on the managers apartment will have a metal roof.
• The owner is requesting solar array on the sloped roof near the new addition.
The HPC:
• Stated that all of the requests for this agenda item are all conforming qualities to this house on Bench Street.
• Stated the roof addition could be removed.
• Stated that even though the roof that the solar is to be installed on is sloped, it has little to no visibility from any right of way.
MOTION: Gehrts moved, seconded by Dennerlein to approve as presented.

Jonathan Miller Building Official, stated:
