Carroll County Board met June 6. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Reibel, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll call was taken showing Anderson, Cole, Payette, Yuswak, Preston , Stitzel , Imel and Reibel present, with Hartman being absent.

Motion by Mr. Yuswak, second by Mr. Preston to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried.

Motion by Mr. Preston, second by Mr. Imel to approve the May 16, 2019 meeting minutes as amendedunder 911 report should read Ms. Anderson not Mr. Anderson.

Financial

Bills paid in vacation were presented. Motion by Mr. Imel, second by Mr. Preston to approve the action of the clerk. Motion carried.

Committee on Claims were presented. Motion by Mr. Imel, second by Mr. Preston to approve the bills as presented. Motion carried.

Chairman Reibel turned the meeting over to Brad Smith one of the Directors of the Farm Bureau. He introduced the following Directors and Farm Bureau Manager in attendance. After introductions he then turned it over to Brenda Matherly, Asst. Director of Local Government from the Illinois Farm Bureau. She gave a presentation on the Understanding the Farmland Assessment Process. After a few questions and comments, it was then turned over to Kevin Rund, Sr. Director of Local Government from the Illinois Farm Bureau. He gave presentation on our local highway system on the revenue sources , taxes on motor fuel, federal excise tax and state excise tax. There was much discussion on the new motor fuel tax staring July 1, 2019. Kevin Vandendooren, County Engineer helped clarify what percentage the County will be getting from this new tax.

Alicia Kness from the Carroll County Rural Transit Program, gave an update on the Transit Program. She did state that they currently have 17 employees, there are 7 to 12 routes done daily , their hours are from 6 a.m. till 6 p.m., and ridership is up.

Chairman Reibel thanked the Farm Bureau and Carroll County Transit on their presentations and their continued hard work. He then convened the meeting to the Flikkema Farm at 19949 Townline Rd., Lanark with transportation being provided by the Carroll County Rural Transit.

Jeremy and Chris Flikkema explained the operations of their farm and how they must be certified by the State on many of the programs they use to run their farm effectively. There were questions and comments from the County Board and others in attendance on various topics.

After a short ride back to the Naaman Diehl,the meeting was adjourned at 12:15 p.m.

A delicious lunch was provided by the Carroll County Farm Bureau.
