City of Savanna City Council met Jan. 28.

CALL TO ORDER:
Mayor Pro-tem Pat Sanchez called the meeting to order on the said date at 7:30 P.M. Notice of the meeting was delivered to all Council members and posted at 333 Chicago Avenue, Savanna, Illinois in accordance with the State of Illinois Open Meetings Act.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
Mayor Pro-tem Pat Sanchez led the Council in the pledge of allegiance.
ROLL CALL / ESTABLISH QUORUM:
Mayor Pro-tem Pat Sanchez declared the establishment of a quorum with members in attendance Jocelyn Boyd, Jeff Griswold, Pat Sanchez, Deb Long, and Roger Husband. Absent were Mayor Chris Lain, Jim Friedenbach, Nick Law, and Sara Purdom. Non-members in attendance were News Media: Mike Nester, Superintendent of Public Works John Lindeman, Comptroller/Treasurer Brittany Hatteberg, Police Chief Jeff Doran, City Attorney Phil Jensen, and City Clerk Rhonda Weiss.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA:
After a brief review, Roger Husband motioned to approve the agenda, seconded by Jocelyn Boyd. All voting in favor, none opposed. Motion passed.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Consideration of the Minutes of the January 14, 2020, Regular Meeting: Roger Husband motioned to approve the Minutes from January 14, 2020, seconded by Deb Long. All voting in favor, none opposed. Motion passed.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: None for review. COMMUNICATIONS: None for Review.
WARRANT #9A:
Additional Invoices Totaling $106,482.20: After a brief review, Roger Husband motioned to approve Warrant #9A Totaling $106,482.20, seconded by Jocelyn Boyd. Roll Call Vote Aye, Jocelyn Boyd, Jeff Griswold, Deb Long, and Roger Husband. Nay: None. Motion passed.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Wacker Road Project Update and Associated Action Items: Superintendent of Public Works John Lindeman updated the Council on the progress of Wacker Road. The gravity sewer was camera scoped today and is working well. The east end transition will be regraded to relevel the road until spring.
NEW BUSINESS:
Hiring of Public Works Employee: Superintendent of Public Works John Lindeman is requesting the council approve the hiring of Dillon Prowant in the Public Works Department at a starting wage of $16.50 per hour. Jeff Griswold asked why the previous hire started at $17.00 per hour. Superintendent of Public Works John Lindeman stated he had construction experience and his CDL warranting a higher starting wage. After a brief discussion, Roger Husband motioned to approve the hiring of Dillon Prowant at $16.50 per hour, seconded by Jocelyn Boyd. Roll Call Vote Aye: Jocelyn Bod, Jeff Griswold, Deb Long, and Roger Husband. Nay: None. Motion passed.
CITIZENS, COMMITTEE MEMBERS:
Jocelyn Boyd thanked Superintendent of Public Works John Lindeman for the work the Public Works Department put in during the recent storms. They did an excellent job keeping the roads clear.
Superintendent of Public Works John Lindeman wanted to reassure the council that the city has a full salt shed and are fully prepared for any more snowfall and ice this year.
