Winifred Knox Memorial Library Board met Jan. 14.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Call to order- at 6:31 p.m.

Attendance- Trustees: Geri Twardowski, Patti Forrester, Ruth Newcomer, Susie Murphy, Director - Jeff Munson, Bookkeeper - Amy Runkle.

Absent: Trustees Marilyn Spangler, Leah Deihotel.

Public comments - none

Consent Agenda: Ruth Newcomer motioned to accept as presented, Geri Twardowski 2nd. Motion accepted as presented

Treasurer's report, Secretary's report, Director's report

Old business

a. Diffuser: Non invasive at this time, no objections.

b. Review Per Capita items:

Personnel Standard; Long Range Plan; Trustee Facts File.

Review and progress up to date.

Suggestion for Trustees: go to the Illinois State Library website page and review Trustee training.

c. Sound system to stay at library. Donation of chairs revisited at February meeting, Jeff will check with Village board.

New Business

A. Michelle Bartlett passed the bar code exam. Congratulations to Michelle as with previous employees who accomplished this her desk salary will increase by a $1.00 per hour. Motion presented by Geri Twardowski,

B. New Laws as of 1/1/2020

1. Adopt ordinance/resolution updating sexual harassment policy to include a means whereby harassment policy to include a means whereby a library trustee may report sexual harassment made by another library trustee and receive an

independent review, per new laws that went into effect January 1, 2020.

Recommended language to use per a library attorney. "In the event the sexual or unlawful harassment is made by or directed at a library Trustee, the affected Library Trustee should contact the Library Board's Attorney to request an independent 3rd party investigation."

The update sexual harassment policy to conform to the sexual harassment and the state officials and employees ethics act. Motion made by Ruth Newcomer to approve, motion 2nd.Motion approved.

2. Cannabis Regulations to be handled by the director to the same extent as the alcohol and tobacco policy.

8. Miscellaneous items:

A. Censorship Should we censor the children's computers in regards to video games? Should we revise the permission slip to have the parent come into the library to sign the permission slip? Jeff will look into computer policy and we will revisit at February meeting.

B. Paint night - great review from all who attended. This program will definitely be revisited again.
