Byron Township Board of Trustees met Feb. 13.
Here is the minutes provided by the board:
The regular monthly meeting was called to order at 7:00P.M.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Roll call was taken.
Those present were:
Trustees; Janet Harding, Hank Ebert, Dave Engelbrecht, and
Township Supervisor Terry Reeverts
Road Commissioner Ron Gibson and Township Clerk Barbara Rundle.
Township Assessor Bob Goelitz
Trustee Ray Dyck was absent from the meeting
Supervisor Reeverts requested to add;
Discuss Health Insurance to New Business.
Minutes from the January 9, 2020 were discussed.
Janet Harding made a motion to approve the minutes as presented.
Hank Ebert 2nd the motion, roll call was taken, and approved by all.
Zoning & Planning Committee Report – Nothing for this month.
Assessor’s Report – Bob reported on the Nursing Home appeal; the BOR split the difference between last year’s assessment and what Bob had it assessed for.
The new computer is up and running.
Road Commissioner’s Report – Ron reported the following;
• The culvert projects are hold until the weather improves.
• Looking at a soil conditioner for the skid loader, going to have a demo to see how it would work.
• There will be a countywide meeting later this month, as well as a pipeline meeting to go over all the pipeline work in the county. He is working on putting together a chain saw safety class presented by Stihl later in March also.
Clerk’s Report – Nothing for this month.
Trustees’ Report – Nothing for this month.
Cemetery Report – Please see Josiah’s cemetery report.
Supervisor’s Report – Terry reported the insurance with TOIRMA for the cemetery building did not increase more than $100 for $43,000 coverage so he went ahead with it.
Ron got the dumpster delivered to the cemetery.
Terry asked Clerk Rundle to go ahead and order the updated TOI Laws and Duties Handbooks and CD version.
Trustee Ebert made a motion to approve the line item transfer in the Town Fund transferring $500.00 from line item 599A – Contract Payments to line item 830A – Capital Outlay. Janet Harding 2nd the motion, roll call was taken and approved by all.
The following bills were submitted for audit and approval;
Town Fund:
Regular bills $ 4,712.99
Payroll $ 11,242.92
Social Security $ 789.09
Total of Town Fund in the amount of $16,754.00.
Dave Engelbrecht made a motion to approve the bills as submitted;
Hank Ebert 2nd the motion, roll call was taken, and approved by all.
Road District:
Road and Bridge Fund $ 7,264.18
Permanent Road Fund $ 33,025.06
Permanent Payroll Fund $ 18,622.93
Joint Bridge Fund $ 5,256.34
Social Security Fund $ 1,316.48
Total for Road District Fund in the amount of $65,484.99.

Janet Harding 2nd the motion, roll call was taken, and approved by all.
Old Business –
a) Josiah, Cemetery Sexton, requested an Office Surface Pro to use at the Cemetery. Dave did some comparison of Dell and Microsoft and owning versus leasing Office Pro software to make it compatible with the cemetery software. There was a brief discussion. Janet Harding made a motion for Dave to find out if Office Pro can be owned and to purchase the Surface Pro for Josiah to use, all not to exceed $2500.00.
Hank Ebert 2nd the motion, roll call was taken and approved by all.
b) There was a discussion on purchasing the G Suite package for Josiah to use as the
cemetery phone & phone number listing. Dave Engelbrecht made a motion for Josiah to move forward with the G Suite package for cemetery phone. Hank Ebert 2nd the motion, roll call was taken and approved by all.
New Business –
a) Terry announced the IRS mileage reimbursement is now 57.5 cents per mile. Janet Harding made a motion to accept the IRS mileage reimbursement amount.
Dave Engelbrecht 2nd the motion, roll call was taken and approved by all.
b) Terry asked if there were any questions or changes to the mowing bid presented for the cemetery. Hank Ebert made a motion to accept the bid with the dates changed to the current year. Dave Engelbrecht 2nd the motion, roll call was taken and approved by all.
c) Terry reported he had attended a meeting at the school about the health insurance just prior to tonight’s meeting. The new monthly health insurance premium for Denny Herbig will be $867.60. The Township will need to prepare a letter of intent stating the intention of go with the school for health insurance with the new carrier. There was a brief discussion and everyone agreed to move forward with the letter of intent.
