Analysis: Sterling pays $6.46 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Sterling Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 86.6 percent of the $1,243,640 the Sterling Police Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $6.46 for every $1 from pension members, according to a NW Illinois News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Sterling contributed $1,077,067 to the fund, which saw a $95,469 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $166,561, or 13.4 percent, in 2018. Another $12 came from other unspecified sources.
