Analysis: Freeport pays $3.16 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Freeport Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 76.2 percent of the $1,222,829 the Freeport Firefighters Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $3.16 for every $1 from pension members, according to a NW Illinois News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Freeport contributed $932,393 to the fund, which saw a $6,164 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $295,035, or 24.1 percent, in 2018.
