McHenry Township’s Board of Trustees voted 3-2 to township officials' pay and eliminate pay for board meetings.

Northwest Herald reported Township Supervisor Craig Adams voted against the pay cut. When the vote passed, his pay was impacted even though he works 40 to 50 hours weekly.

“The majority feels they are part-time jobs; we’re trying to tell them they are not part-time jobs,” Adams said.

Adams said he was considering looking for another supervisor position after the cut. His pay went from a $76,822 annual salary to $45,000.

Other positions are also receiving significant pay cuts.

The road district treasurer will take a cut from $1,000 annually to $100, Northwest Herald reported. The $14,759 pay for the clerk will go down to $10,000 and the township assessor and highway commissioner will go down from $76,822 and $86,431 to $45,000.
