Scales Mound Fire District responded to 33 calls in 2018 - 13.8 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Scales Mound included 16 fires - nine structure fires, three vehicle fires and four other fires.

In all, the department saw $492,000 in fire loss - or about $30,750 per fire.

The department also received 17 false calls.

The Scales Mound Fire District had an annual budget of $1,170,896 in 2018.
