After another student tested positive for COVID-19 in the Dakota School District, all high school students were confined to learning from home for two weeks.

Families in the district were made aware of the case by the Stephenson County Health Department.

“Thank you for your patience and support during this unprecedented time. Our top priority is the safety and education of our students, staff, and community,” the district said on its Facebook page, the Journal Standard reported.

In addition to all high schoolers learning remotely, school activities were halted.

Pecatonica School District also informed families that a student at the high school tested positive for the coronavirus and the school is working on contact tracing to see who came in contact with the student, the Journal Standard reported.

Freeport School District's Blackhawk Elementary school also had a student test positive.

“Under the advisement of the Stephenson County Health Department, Freeport School District 145 has determined that it is unnecessary to close Blackhawk School at this time,” Superintendent Anna Alvarado stated in the letter. “Instead, the course of action that the Stephenson County Health Department and FSD145 are taking is to promptly identify and monitor individuals who have had recent contact with the COVID-19 positive student to prevent further spread within our school and community."
