Ogle County Emergency Telephone System Board met Sept. 9.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Ogle County ETSB meeting was called to order on Wednesday September 9, 2020 at 5pm by Chairman B. VanVickle.

Members Present:

T. Carls                  L. Callant

D. Sawlsville         S. Sullivan

C. Tveit                 M. Typer

Members Absent:

C. Clothier – work

S. Thomas – work

Others present:

S. Beitel – E9-1-1 Coordinator

There was no public comment.

A motion by T. Carls seconded by L. Callant to approve the draft minutes of the August 12, 2020 meeting. The motion carried.

S. Beitel reported on the Next Generation Project for Ogle County stating that the CAMA trunks have been purchased and will be installed at the DeKalb County site. Boone County was first to have the Next Generation System installed last week and it appears to be running smoothly. Whiteside and Winnebago Counties are next to be installed. Sheriff VanVickle intends to do a digital press release for the system once it is installed and operating in Phase 2, which includes text to 9-1-1, in Ogle County.

Chairman B. VanVickle – Demolition of the old tower will begin. Verizon equipment will be off at the end of the month, along with the Ifiber equipment. Tower will be decommissioned the first part of October.

Vice-Chairman C. Tveit – Requested propagation maps for the Ogle County fire chiefs due to possible radio issues.

County Board M. Typer – Reported that the board is concerned about the Byron Station closing and they are eager on getting the occupancy in the jail. He advised that the county could see a shortfall of $400,000 to 1.2 milion dollars.

PSAP S. Sullivan – They have hired two new TCs, Emma Smith and Ryan Williams to replace Cassie Rogers and Trevor Owens as they both became full-time police officers with the department. The Rochelle Police Department plans to hold dispatch supervisor interviews next week.

No old business

L. Callant advised that the PBX came in last week and programming and install will be in October.

A motion by S. Sullivan and seconded by C. Tveit to pay the September 2020 bills as presented. Approved by roll call.

S.Beitel reviewed the proposed budget. The proposed budget was discussed with the members and will be on the agenda for October for approval.

There was a consensus to appoint Brittany Carls to as the 9-1-1 Coordinator on November 1st 2020.

A motion by D. Sawlsville and seconded by S. Sullivan for adjournment. The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 5:41pm.
