Ogle County Highway Department Road & Bridge Committee met Oct. 13.

I. Call to Order
A. Meeting called to order at 8:01 AM by Chairman Hopkins at the Ogle County Courthouse, Room 100.
Members present: Stan Asp, Dorothy Bowers, Lloyd Droege, Rick Fritz and Lyle Hopkins.
Others present: Patricia Nordman & Jeremy Ciesiel, County Engineer Meeting also transmitted virtually using Zoom Meetings.
II. Approval of Minutes
A. Reviewed September 8th Road & Bridge Minutes.

III. Reviewed Bills and Payroll
A. Motion to approve Highway Dept bills, credit card and payrolls by – Dorothy Bowers

V. Business & Communications
A. Unfinished Business
1. COVID-19 Update: The Highway Department is currently at full staff. There have been no reported positives or quarantines since our last meeting. As of October 5th, while still split into two crews, we are now all working the same shift hours.
2. Project Status Report (see attached)
3. The Road & Bridge tour is scheduled for Tuesday, October 14th
B. New Business
1. I.A.C.E. Legislative Committee – No update
2. I.A.C.E. Policy Committee – No update
3. 2020 Salt Bid Results – Ogle County’s salt bid result was $60.03 per ton. This is $15.02 per ton less than last year.
4. Road Jurisdiction Transfers – The County Engineer explained that while there are laws in place that automatically transfer jurisdiction of roadways from townships to municipalities when the roadway falls within a municipal boundary, no such mechanism exists for County highways within municipalities. While Ogle County has transferred jurisdiction of a number of County highways to municipalities, there are still a few within municipal boundaries. The County Engineer went over what would be needed to transfer jurisdiction of these roadways to the municipalities.
