American Legion issued the following announcement on Apr. 29.
With a slate of holidays that include Memorial Day, Armed Forces Day, V-E Day and Military Spouse Appreciation Day, May has been designated at Military Appreciation Month. The designation is meant to remind Americans of the important role the U.S. Armed Forces have played in the history and development of our country.
In honor of Military Appreciation Month, we’re asking you to share with us your appreciation for those who either serve or have served. We’re looking for personal connections. Give us a name, when and where they serve/served, and why you appreciate him or her and their service. If you have a photo of that person, please either email or share it on social media as well. Throughout the month we’ll share your stories via www.legion.org and on our social media channels.
Email your stories of appreciation to sbrooks@legion.org or share them on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #WhoIAppreciate.
