PUBLIC COMMENTS- None

LITTLE SPROUTS / NEW FACILITY – Stacy and Cari of Little Sprouts thanked they city for the new road and stated how big of an improvement it has been to pickups and drop offs. They also came to discuss with the council that they are looking into building a new daycare facility in Lanark. They are just starting this project and were asking for the cities support. They are struggling with the current building and are in need a much bigger facility: more class rooms, bathrooms in classrooms, bigger kitchen, more fridge and freezer space, indoor playground/gym for winter months, etc. They feel the improvements/additions needed in current facility are much greater then to just build new. Improvements needed to include new addition, heating and air, roofing, and electric as they are currently maxed out for electricity. The Council gave ideas of possible locations; by Law-Jones Funeral Home, on W. Lanark Ave., and city cemetery land east of the cemetery. The Council is supportive and offered to help as needed. The council also gave out other ideas of building type, lot sizing, engineers, and briefly went over TIF.

CODE ENFORCEMENT ISSUE – Tabled

TRICK OR TREAT – no action – council discussed and felt trick or treating should remain on Halloween day at the same time of 5 pm to 7 pm.

EMPLOYEE COMPENSATION – Tabled to next meeting on Oct. 5th

STANDING COMMITTEES AND BOARDS-POSSIBLE ACTION- Water and Sewer Board – had a meeting to go over tying the fertilizer building into the city. After looking further into the city does not have the ability to supply the building with the 200k gal usage that would be needed. It would create boil orders and possible line breaks for the west side of town. This project is not possible at this time.

REPORTS-EMPLOYEES, ATTORNEY, CLERK, TREASURER, ALDERPERSONS AND MAYOR- Chief Magill – discussed new Rebuild Downtown grant. Possible projects would be to replace downtown lighting, redo sidewalks, and fix/repair 2 buildings on Broad Steet. Matt will be reaching out Fehr Graham to get a better idea of the project and start working on prices. Will report more information as it is provided. Went over code enforcement tracking report. Treasurer Donalee – audit is complete and Auditor will be present at next meeting, Oct. 5th, to discuss further. APRA is complete and the first reporting will be in October. Went over July reports. Alderperson Mark Macomber – commented that he was glad to see Martin come back and finished the road projects. Alderperson Lance Leverton – Mentioned that the water was muddy looking along Broad Street. Mayor Ken replied that Jason will be back on Monday and can flush the hydrants to help solve this issue.

ADJOURNMENT-MOTION-was made by Alderperson Lynn Collins and seconded by Alderperson Brad Knutti to adjourn at 8:44 p.m. Motion carried by 5 aye votes.
