Report: Sterling School District spent $10,109 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Sterling Community Unit School District 5 was up 10 percent from five years ago, according to the NW Illinois News analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Whiteside County school district spent $9,191 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $10,109 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 3,458 to 3,275 students over the same period.

Sterling's spending in 2019-20 was 30.2 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
