McCombie seeks to honor influential women: 'There is more work to do to drive success for our region'

Representative Tony McCombie is looking to honor women who’ve influenced their communities.

“We have all known great women in our lives,” McCombie said to NW Illinois News. “Some are mothers or sisters, business owners or educators, but all are inspirations. I want to honor these women and highlight their effect on our lives.”

Ballotpedia McCombie is on the ballot for the upcoming June 28 election.

McCombie will host an event on July 14 to honor those women of influence who have changed lives. Nominations are due by July 1.

Ballotpedia also wrote she took to office in 2017 and her term is expected to end in January 2023.

“During my time in the House, I have challenged leaders in both parties to ensure Illinois taxpayers are protected and hard-working families in Illinois have safe neighborhoods, strong schools, economic opportunities and more freedom,” she said to the Journal-Standard. “Still, there is more work to do to drive success for our region and achieve the ethics and state government reforms needed to promote growth and get Illinois back on track.”

The State Journal-Register reported the Illinois House voted to remove GOP Representatives such as McCombie from the room for not wearing a mask back in February.

Recently, McCombie announced a spring photo contest for her district. McCombie announced the Spring Photo Contest on her website on May 19.

“I love this district,” she said in a news release. “Nature’s beauty is unmatched and the people are wonderful. I am always proud to show off the 71st District. Help me share that pride by submitting your photos so that together we can show the rest of Illinois our magnificence.”
