An event bigger than Army-Navy

During interviews with the media, Army Head Coach Jeff Monken made it clear that his team and the U.S. Military Academy leadership was even more excited about an event that happened just few days before the Army-Navy Game. Branch Night is when the seniors learn which organizational area of the Army will be their jobs for the next five years.

“It’s the most proud we are during their entire career here,” Monken said. “It’s when they have the chance be able to lead and to serve. The great thing about our academy and our players is that not every one of our players comes to West Point having dreamed about being in the Army their whole life. In fact, I haven’t had very many that even thought about it. But when they get here, and they go through this experience and they realize this opportunity that’s there, it’s something they look forward to.

“So for our seniors to learn what their branches are going to be and what they’re going to be doing in the Army for the five years after they graduate it’s an exciting moment for them. This is what we do as an academy – it’s what were prepare them for. It’s the most important thing we do – to educate, to train and inspire our next generation of leaders who serve in the United States Army. I’m looking forward to Branch Night, too. I’m excited for all those guys.”
